BLAKE SWENSRUDFounder and Chairman of WorldCell, Inc.
Blake Swensrud has been a telecom business innovator/entrepreneur for 20 years, building businesses in the US, Japan, Brazil, Iceland, Korea, and Germany. He is Chairman of WorldCell, Inc., a global managed mobile services company, Viking Wireless (Iceland) a GSM mobile network operator, and of RPP Corp., a US-based manufacturing company.
In 2008, Swensrud sold RSB Ltd. (a global multi-protocol cellular voice and data roaming business he founded in 2005) to MACH S.a.r.l. and exited WorldCell's GEMS subsidiary in a transaction with Vodafone Group, PLC.
Mr. Swensrud has worked in the international telecommunications sector since 1984. In 1989, he founded his first company, International Technology Consultants, Inc. ("ITC"), a telecommunications market consultancy specializing in developing markets, which he sold to Analysis in 1998. Prior to his involvement in the commercial side of telecommunications, Mr. Swensrud spent 3 years in the International Communications Policy Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies ("CSIS") in Washington, D.C.
From 1996-2002, Mr. Swensrud was a member of the Board and President of International Televent, Inc. ("Intelevent") and is a former President of the Capital area Chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO).
Mr. Swensrud holds a Masters Degree in Science, Technology and Public Policy from George Washington University's Elliot School of International Affairs. He completed his Bachelors Degree at Tufts University. He enjoys sailing, skiing and spending time with his family.
